An American businessman who worked for years undercover as an FBI confidential witness was blocked by the Obama Justice Department from telling Congress about conversations and transactions he witnessed related to the Russian nuclear industry’s efforts to win favor with Bill and Hillary Clinton and influence Obama administration decisions, his lawyer tells The Hill.Attorney Victoria Toensing, a former Reagan Justice Department official and former chief counsel of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said Tuesday she is working with members of Congress to see if they can get the Trump Justice Department or the FBI to free her client to talk to lawmakers.

California health care workers who “willfully and repeatedly” decline to use a senior transgender patient’s “preferred name or pronouns” could face punishments ranging from a fine to jail time under a newly signed law. California Gov. Jerry Brown signed the legislation last week. The sponsor, Democratic state Sen. Scott Wiener, has argued adamantly that nobody is going to be criminally prosecuted for using the wrong pronoun. “It’s just more scare tactics by people who oppose all LGBT civil rights and protections,” he said in a statement last month.

“Could there have been any law passed that would’ve stopped him?” Host John Dickerson asked the senator.“No, he passed background checks registering for handguns and other weapons on multiple occasions,” Feinstein replied. Feinstein’s remark comes as Republicans have started to express interest in a conversation about regulations for bump stock devices, which were found in the hotel room of the suspected gunman. The devices increase the possible rate of gun fire on semi-automatic weapons.

The latest release late last week by Julian Assange at WikiLeaks of a 2009 State Department cable to the Russians raises fresh questions about the objectivity of Special Counsel Robert Mueller (shown), the man named to investigate any possible “collusions” between the presidential campaign of Donald Trump and the Russians. In 2009, then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton directed FBI Director Mueller to deliver a sample of Highly Enriched Uranium (HEU) to Russia. The uranium had reportedly been stolen. It seems particularly odd, considering that the FBI is not under the supervision of the State Department, and that the FBI director would personally make the transfer.

“The U.S Department of Justice’s Inspector General should immediately conduct an investigation into these leaks and to examine the motivations behind a previous Administration’s effort to surveil a political opponent,” Mr. Maloni said. “Mr. Manafort requests that the Department of Justice release any intercepts involving him and any non-Americans so interested parties can come to the same conclusion as the DOJ – there is nothing there.”CNN reported that the surveillance orders granted by the court allowed the FBI to tap Mr. Manafort’s phones. The first order was related to an investigation of his consulting work with Ukrainian politicians, a probe that CNN said was abandoned at some point in 2016.But the FBI later got a second warrant to surveil Mr. Manafort as part of its investigation into the Trump campaign’s ties with Russian operatives. That warrant was good into at least part of 2017, CNN reported.

Rep. Trent Franks, a Republican who sits on the House Judiciary Committee, said in a statement Tuesday that Mueller is in violation of the law that prohibits Mueller from serving as a special counsel if he has a conflict of interest.Mueller and former FBI Director James Comey have been longtime allies dating back to 2003 when the men both worked in Washington, Mueller as the FBI Director and Comey as Deputy Attorney General. Franks cited the pair’s relationship as a reason for Mueller to be disqualified from the probe.“Bob Mueller is in clear violation of federal code and must resign to maintain the integrity of the investigation into alleged Russian ties,” Franks said. “Those who worked under them have attested he and Jim Comey possess a close friendship, and they have delivered on-the-record statements effusing praise of one another.

Everybody likes to refer to John McCain as a war hero. The press is very good at this, John McCain becomes the, “maverick” and throws a monkey wrench into any conservative legislation that may be going through the Senate. He becomes praised and if anybody speaks out against him he is reminded that John McCain is a war hero.
I would like to remind the press Benedict Arnold was also a war hero, until he was a traitor. John McCain is put himself before the country, both a matter of pride.
When Democrats aren’t importing foreign ringers to boost their voting rolls, they’re using government employees to do the same. The Office of Special Counsel just released a report suggesting that the U.S. Postal Service union broke the law by having employees do work on behalf of the Clinton campaign in 2016. Normally, federal employees are allowed to engage in political activism while on leave. But the union that governs USPS employees showed a bias toward Clinton during last year’s heated campaign.

Just a quick note on what happened here, for our academia friends who were brain-dead. The Postal Service gave time off without pay to work for the Clinton election. The trouble arises is because these people had to be replaced at work to fill in the slots, by personnel were working overtime and being paid extra.
It’s kinda like a bait and switch where you say you’re complying with the law by giving them the time off without pay but then turning around having to pay their cohorts double-time for their absence.
What’s the matter with Republicans that they completely lost your minds? It appears that none of them have the ability to think farther than the next cocktail party. Can somebody come up with a way that is practical where we can have a third-party system to give this democracy some chance of survival?
Isn’t there anybody in DC that has a bit of patriotism in them? It apparently this is not the case America is producing total idiots and putting them in leadership positions.
Term limits comes to mind again, it would be great to see house representatives limited to three terms and the Senate limited to two turns. But they have to be the ones backing that amendment or it is never gonna happen. They are not inclined to give up their power because that is the glory that they have in themselves.
